* A public service announcement precedes the racing carnage seen in the intro to the game where police cruisers chase winged cars through city streets.

* In the loading screen, red, white, and blue police lights blink on the right side of the screen.

* After creating an alias and saving the profile to memory card, the options that appear on screen are as follows:
CAREER / Challenge Series / Quick Race / My Cars / Alias Manager / Options.

* In Career Mode, the action starts off immediately with a drag race where pinks are the prize. The intro to the first race starts with cop cars in hot pursuit but they run into an accident and the two racers are free to race. About a minute into the race however, a message from Mia Townsend warns the player to end the racer because a huge oil slick was found in the starting line which leaked from his car.

* In a flashback sequence, the protagonist engages in a friendly racing with Mia when a couple of cops stop him and threaten to strip the car apart to see if it is street legal. When the cops receive an emergency call and have to stop harassing the player, the black cop keys the car as a farewell gift.

* The next flashback is a playable race against a punk driver named McCrea and beating him will net $10,000 in cash for working capital, upgrades, and tune-ups. After the race, Razor Callahan introduces himself to the player after McCrea and player roll into an erstwhile pitstop at the Shipyard. In the next race, two police cars give a little chase but they ultimately lose the street racers and you're free to win another $10,000 bounty after beating the challenger.

* In the race against the leader of the Blacklist 15, Razor Callahan, which takes place at the present game time, cop cars will once again pursue the racers and one cop car will eventually ram into the player's car head-on. After a little while, Mia radios and apprises the player of the oil slick at the starting line and the car dies right on the highway. After being arrested by the cops from the beginning of the game and subsequently released, Mia rolls up and tells the player that Razor Callahan sabotaged the race as well as the car by mucking it up.

* When the proper game starts, the player has $30,000 in cash to buy a vehicle. We opted for the Lexus IS300 over the Fiat Punto, the Chevrolet Cobalt SS, and the Volkswagen Goft GTI (which we couldn't afford anyway). There's a total of 32 vehicles but they must be unlocked by meeting certain goals.
