Play as a thrill-seeking, expert hunter. Level design uses natural barriers to direct you with startling surprise encounters with animals intent on killing you. An all-new Companion System helps guide you through the environment and serves as a resource you will need to protect you or seometimes act as bait. Snipe, shoot from the back of a vehicle and fight up-close and personal. With limited ammunition at hand, you'll need to use environmental objects for defense. During vicious hand-to-claw combat, you'll need to slash with the knife, block with your forearm, or smack the snout with the butt of your rifle. NCS Game Notes
* In the intro to the game, a camera zooms into a cabin which is adorned inside with deer heads and a man seated in a chair in front of a crackling fireplace. A fly buzzes around and he throws a hunting knife at it, the fly escapes but the knife embeds itself in the wall. A crochety guy named Hugh in "hunter" gear appears at the door and rambles off about the protagonist's ample hunting skills and hints at a predicament that requires his help. * The game starts with a little target practice with Hugh. Pick the gun up off the left crate and shoot 4 bottles that just happen to be waiting to be shot. After successfully blasting them away, Hugh mutters, "C'mon hotshot, let's keep moving." * In the next practice run, players pick up a rifle and learn how to crouch. As Hugh said, "It's time for some real hunting!" and a deer may be caught in your sights and killed if you're silent and deadly enough. * In the next surreal scene, a mountain lion attacks Hugh and you but the R2 trigger performs a rifle smacking blow to daze the big cat. After its been dazed, walk backwards a bit, aim the rifle at the wounded tiger and blast away with R1 to kill it. * After Hugh gets his wooden leg caught in a trap and extricates himself from it, a big bear appears and roars its disapproval of the two hunters in its presence. With bravado, Hugh says "Stand back sonny" as he proceeds to completely miss the bear. It's up to you to take it down before Hugh and you are spam but three blasts from your shotgun to the animal's head will stop it dead. * Once the practice mission is over, Hugh tells the protagonist that Bill Lewis, his friend, has gone missing and Wilderness Rescue asked Hugh to retrieve the protagonist. Hugh's niece and nephew are also missing and he needs help to track them down before wolves get them. * If you try to shoot Hugh, the targeting sight will blink red.
