The Prince of Persia, a seasoned warrior, returns from the Island of Time to Babylon with his love Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is rapidly captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him. Now cast to the streets and hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him ...

NCS Games Notes
* In the title screen, the camera passes over a burning city as fireballs plummet from a smoke-filled blackened sky.

* The Prince returns to his homeland which is under siege but he can eventually transform into a grey-skinned, corpse-like being of sorts with energy that seems to emanate from within. The energy also decorates his skin with strange sigils. Similar to previous Prince of Persia games, the prince may run on walls, jump from wall to wall to scale heights, and leap over tall balconies with a single bound.

* As the game begins, the camera flows through wispy, sandy smoke and then courses through shimmering water towards a creaky boat. The Prince is grasping a medallion and recollects his previous journeys and adventures as seen in the two previous POP games. As the boat continues on, Kaileena is on the boat with him and they are sailing home to Babylon. As the boat makes its way into view of the city, signs of war and trouble are apparent. Fiery arrows descend on his boat and he steers the ship in a futile evasive maneuver when a fireball hits the ship and breaks it apart. As the prince rises up from the water, Kaileena is seen lying unconscious on a floating plank as the camera pulls away. The prince floats ashore and climbs up to assess the situation. As he nears the heart of the city, he spies two marauders appraching Kaileena who has also washed ashore. One of them pushes her with his foot to see if she's alive. Another carries her over his shoulders and trudges away while the Prince yells out, "Let her go!" to no avail. The action starts afterwards.

* The L-analog pad moves the prince while the R-analog shifts the camera view. To roll forward, move and then press the "X" button and the prince will barrel over to enter cubby holes and other tunnels. To center the camera after shifting views, press down on the R-analog (R3) and the screen will blur for a second before regaining composure and its default perspective on the game world. To run up walls, hit the R1 trigger and Prince'll make like Spider-Man. Wall walking may be performed by running parallel to a wall and then hittng the R1 trigger.

* As the Prince explores the devastated city, buildings are in ruins and bodies lay slumped over everywhere. Fires are burning throughout the grounds and they will cause damage if Prince walks into them. The first challenge is a column jumping exercise where he jumps from column to column to platform to column to platform to wall walking... and so on and so forth. If the prince should lose his grip or jump at an inopportune time, he'll plummet to his death as he screams out his last breath. After successfully maneuvering to the other side of the wall, the prince will be prompted to drink some water from a fountain and save his progress to memory card.

* Speed kills are activated by pressing the TRIANGLE button when prompted and when the enemy is being wrestled, press the SQUARE button to exact a slashing blow. Most foes are killed with two stabs.

* If you pause the game, the female announcer will say, "When you have the time, I will continue," "I am happy to wait. I have all the time in the world," or "Tell me when you want to hear more," or another saying of similar courtesy. She will also narrate bits of the story as the prince makes his way through the levels.

* Extra features in the options menu include an Artwork Gallery and a Video Gallery. Within the Artwork Gallery, the pieces are further broken up into a Character Gallery and an Illustration Gallery. Below the Character Gallery threshhold, there's a Prince Gallery and Other Characters Gallery. One image of the prince may be viewed here he's stabbing a cat-woman like creature in the back as she seemingly flails. To unlock the various pictures, sand credits must be accumulated to purchase them. The Illustration Gallery features works from all three Prince of Persia games - The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones.
