Shadow and light, when used effectively by cinematographers, cast a strange pallor over surfaces and environs. The use of clouds and hazy textures also add a sense of preternatural mystery to the landscape - it works in movies and it works in video games. Otogi is one of those games that brims with supernatural presence and it uses the aforementioned elements perfectly to create a dreamy netherworld. Similar to the first Otogi, players battle through beautifully surreal levels and break up the background. Structures and buildings are interactive and react to your blows with realistic effect. For example, if a battle takes place in a building, it will likely be a tattered wooden shadow of its former self once the carnage has been wrought.
