«©NCSX» The mighty master of nose hair returns to the GBA in an action-adventure game that plays awfully similar to the previous one. It's like Hudson broke out the Bobobo game construction kit. Travel the world with comrades, encounter enemies in wacky fighting sequences, and play a bevy of mini-games which include an excellent vertical shooter. View the back cover on the main NCSX website. Official Hudson News Release Hudson Soft Co., Ltd. will release "Bobobobo Bobobo: The Ultra Gagster 9" for Game Boy Advance on March 25th, 2004. This new RPG ("Role Playing Gag") combines battle and action with side-splitting comedy. Since the original "Bobobobo Bobobo" became an animated series last November, it has been airing on 24 TV Asahi affiliates (Saturdays at 7:28 pm) and has proved explosively popular, especially among elementary school children. "Bobobobo Bobobo: The Ultra Gagster 9", which targets these new fans of the animated show, has a storyline largely based on the TV series and features simple gameplay designed for younger users. A new Bobobo, based on the vastly popular TV series While still appearing in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha, Inc), the popular gag comic "Bobobobo Bobobo" (author: Yoshio Sawai) made its TV debut as an animated series last November. Since then, its "gag world" of outrageous personalities has gained tremendous momentum and shows no signs of slowing down. The program's audience share among 7-12 year-olds has reached nearly 30%. "Bobobobo Bobobo: The Ultra Gagster 9" aims to thoroughly entertain this new growing share of younger fans, and has been designed with suitable graphic effects and difficulty level. The game's storyline and visuals are based on the animated TV series, but there are also some original subplots, all of which are peppered with punch lines guaranteed to tickle hardcore fans. Voices are provided by the same voice actors used in the TV series; recreating the world of the animated "Bobobo" on the GBA. The Ultra Gagster Nine band together to unleash their comedic chops! As the title suggests, the game features the familiar 9 characters (the main character Bobobo, Don Patch, Tokoroten no Tasuke, Torpedo Girl, and others) who must work together and merge to produce various combo moves. Only three of the nine characters can take part in battle at one time, so players must select three characters and strategically "blend" them to produce the best combos. Apart from normal attacks, the battles feature more than a hundred different types of Bobobo-esque "fusion moves" and "side-splitting" moves. Among the formation moves are "Tokoroten Magnum" (performed by Bobobo and Tokoroten no Tasuke) and "Hello Baby" (performed by Dengaku Man and Torpedo Girl). Characters also have unique individual moves that are more powerful than normal attacks -- for example, Bobobo's "Sexy Beam" and Softon's "Jamaican Passion". All these moves incorporate Bobobo humor and irony and all of them defy expectation -- some moves are incredibly elaborate but do nothing, while others look completely harmless but deliver a massive blow. Since the game targets young elementary school children, controls are simple - combos can be performed by simply pushing the A Button repeatedly. After players become accustomed to the game, however, they can attempt more difficult button combinations and develop their own strategies, making the game enjoyable on various levels. A variety of wacky mini-games included The game also includes a number of off-the-wall mini-games bursting with Bobobo humor, such as a parody of Hudson's famous shooting game, "Star Soldier", titled "Star Bulger". This mini-game takes place on the same playing field as the original game, but players face Bobobo characters as their enemies.
