Pukupuku was originally serialized in Ciao, a manga collection from Shogakukan. Dogs, cats and other representatives of the animal kingdom speak Japanese and make up the bulk of the characters in the manga and the game. Players take control of Pukupuku, a floppy-eared dog with a gang of feline friends, rodents and even birds. Being such a social hub, Pukupuku is given the task of hooking up friends and finding a little love for himself. Whereas the original Pukupuku only contained four main scenarios, the sequel contains six and mixes up the action with an ever-changing game environment which hinges on one's actions in previous episodes. When Pukupuku's not playing matchmaker, mini-games may be enojoyed such as a rudimentary rhythm challenge where a menagerie plays in a band while Pukupuku conducts.
