Capcom eschews the questionable strategy of releasing two versions of the (pretty much) same game simultaneously and ships Rockman EXE5: Team of Blues this week while holding Rockman EXE5: Team of Colonel until February of next year. As in previous installments of the popular EXE series, Rockman wanders an isomtric world and engages in 2-D grid-based battles where battle chips are used for tactical advantage. Similar to EXE4, the Soul Unison system plays a strong factor in battles where six souls of EXE games past join Rockman to boost his fighting repertoire. The following souls are available in Rockman EXE5: Blues Soul - Based on Blues; use with a Sword battlechip
Gyro Soul - Based on Gyroman; use with a Wind battlechip
Medi Soul - Based on Medi; use with a Healing Elemental battlechip
Magnet Soul - Based on Magnetman; use with an Electric Elemental battlechip
Napalm Soul - Based on NapalmMan; use with a Fire battlechip
Search Soul - Based on Searchman; use with a Stealth battlechip The souls must be gathered and then used with the corresponding battle chip in order to be activated. New offensive and defensive abilities are granted to Rockman once the soul is made one with Rocky.
