Update: September 14, 2005 Two tennis players named Norty and Tabby lead a group of Junior Class, Regular Class, and Senior Class players onto the clay and grass courts of Ninty's latest. The usual crew of Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser, Luigi, Princess Peach, etc make the cut at the Peach Dome where throngs of onlookers cheer on their favorite players. There's an adventure mode where Norty and Tabby explore a bit before holding court with competitors that they meet along the way. For those who just want to dig into the tennis action immediately, a tennis game mode is ready where eight recognizable characters are ready to serve as your onscreen athlete. Along with standard lobs and volleys, special attacks may be used by Mario and friends such as Peach's swirling hearts love attack and Mario's mallet smash. Balls that are pounded with vengeance are shadowed by trails of varying intensity while standard hits leave no light remnants as the ball flies through the air. A funny result of Bowser's extreme serve power is that the force of his shots are capable of stunning an opponent just by hitting him or her. Game controls are solid as expected from any Camelot/Nintendo affair. View the back cover and screenshots.
