Update: July 12, 2006 «©NCSX» In Dialhex, a hexagon serves as the playfield which in turn is broken up into 96 inner triangles. Colored pieces fall down from the top of the screen and slide into available triangle receptacles. Triangles may be colored yellow, orange, light green, and dark green. As the difficulty ramps higher, more triangle colors are added to the mix. The Dialhex of the title screen is a white hexagon outline which is used to highlight one or more color triangles to spin them around in order to make color combinations of whole hexagons of the same color. Once the hexagon outline is spun to create an all-color hexagon, the group flashes white and disappears from the screen as the other triangles fall into the newly created void. In addition to straightforward hexagon color matching, chain combinations may be ignited to clear entire swaths of color triangles from the playfield. When the game starts, a single layer of orange and light-green triangles line the bottom of the hexagon. As triangles fall, they'll hit the layer and drop to the center of the layer thanks to virtual gravity. » In addition to forming single hexagon color matches, chain combinations may also be set off which have the potential of clearing the screen entirely of triangles of a single color that started the chain. Once, those are clear, any other color hexagons that may appear afterwards are also triggered and cleared from the screen. » A trick is the ability to create a color combo that opens up a rift on the bottom of the play board through which streams of triangles drop through. When this happens, a shaft of light pierces the area where the initial color match was made and opens up the rift on the bottom of the playfield. As the player dominates the early levels, additional colors are added to the game including red and purple. New wrinkles are also added to the game for higher levels of challenge.
