Update: July 27, 2006 «©NCSX» Nintendo's Bit Generations lineup seeks to approximate the look and feel of old school 8-bit gaming. For the most part, the games succeed in capturing the magic of the early 80s with diversions that feature exceedingly simple objectives and controls. As one conquers early levels, later stages scale higher in difficulty to challenge elite players and foil average gamers. Sound Voyager is made up of seven mini-games which feature simple graphics, simple goals, and lush sound. The vibrant quality of the audio is meant to serve as a distinct contrast against the plain visuals. For example, one of the mini-games is called Sound Chase where players maneuver a blob on a black-line highway. The sounds in the game provide more detailed information than the simple graphics. NCS Game Notes » After adjusting the volume with the L or R triggers as you see fit, the game kicks off with Sound Catcher. There's a bunch of games above it which are arranged in reverse tree format that branch outwards.» Sound Voyager features seven mini-games as follows: Sound Catcher - Catch the falling green pulsating globes Sound Drive - Race across a highway while avoid red globes Sound Chase - Catch up to a green pulsating globe Sound Cock - Chase a cock around the field - it clucks loudly when caught Sound Slalom - Dive between two blue globes Sound Cannon - Shoot at red globes while sound and music play Sound Picker - Run around a field and touch green pulsating globes. » In Sound Catcher, players maneuver a sphere with a planetoid whizzing around it and use the D-pad to move left and right to catch green spheres that slowly waft downwards and emit green sound waves. Some green spheres become very faint later on but you can find them by looking for the pulsating sound waves. » In Sound Chase, players motor along on 5 lanes of a plain highway. Avoid red pulsating globes which destroy the player's vehicle when touched. Sounds of cars honking and fast cars detail a more colorful world than the graphics depict. When a collision occurs, the sound of a car crash is played. » When playing Sound Cock, the clucking of a chicken may be heard as the player controls a spheroid to catch another spheroid. Amble along the field while trying to corner the green globe which represents the chicken. » In Sound Slalom, players maneuver between two blue pulsating circles and the music raises an octave each time. » Sound Cannon features a ball which travels and rotates around a black playboard. When red objects appear, line up with them and shoot out lances of white light to crack them open like glass. This document is ©NCSX 2006. All rights reserved.
