Update: November 30, 2006 «©NCSX» Originally released in 1994 for the Super Famicom, Square updates the game with new dungeons, new character classes, and a bestiary. The visuals don't look any different from the SFC original although the music suffers a bit in the translation. Upon starting the game, players may opt to view the in-game text in kanji or hiragana. To enhance the adventure for fans who have already gone through the adventure back in the day, the new dungeons, professions, and spells add new elements to discover. The unlockable bestiary that was introduced in the GBA FFV remake is retained in FFVI. In standard old school FF convention, battles are fought side by side with the party on the right and enemies arrayed on the left. Twelve characters are featured in the game Magic Fighter: Tina Branford (aka Terra in the U.S.) Treasure Hunter: Lock Cole Machinery: Edgar Roni Figaro Monk: Mash Roni Figaro Rune Knight: Celes Chere Samurai: Cayenne Garamonde Wild Boy: Gau Assassin: Shadow Blue Mage: Stragus Magus Pictmancer: Relm Arrowny Gambler: Setzer Gabbiani Moogle: Mog View the back cover and screenshots on the main NCSX website.
NCS Game Notes » If the Wonderswan had survived the portable gaming wars, we'd be seeing this game on the WSC but alas, it was never meant to be in the face of the Gameboy juggernaut. » As mentioned earlier, the quality of the music doesn't match up to the original SFC version and sounds slightly hollow and tinny. Once the title screen popped up, NCS immediately noticed that the rich and resonant quality of the SFC music was missing. » Most memorable image that brought back fond memories of the SFC heyday - the scene in the beginning intro when the three adventurers (Tina, Vicks, and Wedge) are walking in the snow as the credits roll with names of now renowned Japanese game designers, musicians, and graphic artists.
