The shop image has been updated to reflect the version that is currently in stock Thanks.Update: October 10, 2005 Please note that we currently only have the re-issue version of Famicom Mini Vol 01 - Super Mario Bros. We assumed that the reissue of Famicom Mini Vol. 1 from a few weeks ago was the same as the original release. Intrinsically, the game inside is the same but the outer plastic carton is now decorated with a Happy Mario 20th Anniversary logo on the upper left and little silkscreens of Mario, a koopa troopa, and other bits on the lower portion of the plastic. «©NCSX» To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Famicom console which throned Nintendo as king of video games back in the day, a Famicom GBA SP variant and ten classic Famicom games are re-released for the GBA in the early part of 2004. In the legendary Super Mario Bros, the bushy mustachioed plumber known as Mario rushes through a side scrolling platform adventure where he jumps, bops and wreaks havoc. In the first level, aptly named 1-1, our hero encounters brick platforms which seemingly float in the air along with shining blocks which sport question mark symbols. Hitting the shining blocks from underneath unlocks coins and releases mushrooms which double Mario's size. Enemies in the level consist mainly of Goombas (mean-looking mushrooms) which must be squashed by jumping upon them. Green pipes also dot the first level, one of which transports Mario into a special section where mass coins may be gathered. At the end of the first level, Mario hops onto and hugs a flagpole before galloping into a castle. At the beginning of level 1-2, Mario heads directly into a green pipe and enters a subterranean world where he's greeted immediately by two Goombas out for blood. Once the two are squashed, bopping the first question mark releases a shining flower which gives Mario the gift of shooting fireballs. Venus flytrap plants called Piranha Plants also appear from the pipes later in the level along with moving platforms which Mario must hop to progress further. View a larger photo of this item.
