Nintendo borrows a page from the Hello Kitty school of color and paints the GBA SP in a pretty pink tint. The "Pearl" designation refers to the lacquered look of the pink which is a nice shiny color. The Japanese GBA SP ships in a small cardboard box colored the same as the SP inside and includes a standard GBA SP AC adapter. Japanese GBA SP units will also play all USA and EUR GB/GBC/GBA/GBASP cartridges since Nintendo does not enforce any territory lockouts on their handhelds.
