«©NCSX» From the remains of a tattered battlefield, a lone figure staggers to his feet and shuffles towards some unknown destination. As if to contrast the starkness of the dead bodies on the battlefield, the surrounding environs are lush green and full of life. That shuffling survivor serves as the hero of Samurai Dou 3 and he has choices to make and enemies to kill in Acquire's latest take on their popular sword fighting franchise. True to previous games in the Samurai Dou series, the actions and decisions made by the protagonist affect the attitudes of those around him. For example, if a sword is drawn against normal villagers, they'll consider the protagonist a threat and react accordingly in his presence. The multiple choices available during an interaction or encounter allows for numerous outcomes and endings that hinge on how the protagonist acts. A wide assortment of weaponry may also be used in the game including bare hands, swords, spears, and more. The "Best" re-release of Way of the Samurai 3 includes additional "Make a Character" body parts, new in-game items, an Expert difficulty level, and support for trophies. » The protagonist may be customized with a unique appearance and clothing style at the outset of the game. » When an encounter begins, a player can indicate ill-intent by pressing the L1 trigger to unsheath his sword. To show good will, pressing the L2 trigger will cause the protagonist to kneel which indicates assent. » Samurai Dou 3 features over 100 weapons to use and different ways of holding those weapons so that a sword's blade may be flipped upwards so that it bops and dizzies instead of slashes and slices.
