Nintendo and Namco team up and place the legendary simian known as Donkey Kong in a rhythm action game. Cranky and Donkey Kong Junior also join the big ape as rhythm protagonists. The play mechanics in Donkey Konga are similar to Namco's Taiko no Tatsujin game where cues roll down a conveyer belt towards a target circle. When the circle frames each moving cue dead-center, its time to slap the conga and receive your props. A microphone located dead center betwixt the two drums detects claps which are also part of the gameplay. Here's the scoop on the cues and actions: Screen Cue and Pavlovian Action Red Circle - Smack the left drum Yellow Circle - Whack the right drum Pink Circle - Thump both drums simultaneously Electrical Spark - Clap your hands everybody Ratings are posted up for each action on the top or bottom of the screen, depending on which player you're scoping out. Slap the drum or clap at the perfect moment and you'll be graded highly. Perform less than perfect and you'll get rated Good, Okay, Bad or Miss. Up to four players may join the fun at once although you'll need an extra conga drum for the third and fourth drummers. Two players may cooperate on one conga (One manhandles the left drum and the other takes charge of the right drum) as a team and watch as the respective cues slide in. FREELOADER NOTE: Please note that although Datel's Freeloader will boot and play Donkey Konga on a USA Gamecube, the data save function does not work properly and you will not be able to save any data.
