NCS Product Synopsis Update: December 05, 2003 «©NCSX» Earlier this year, Tomy's cel-shaded sleeper of a fighting game found an appreciative audience. A consistent complaint however was the lack of characters. Tomy listened to the plaintive cries and has answered with a sequel that bumps the character roster to a total of 20 and throws in a 4-player option. In addition to the core crew of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi, there's also the likes of Gai, Gaara, Hinata, Ino, Kankuro, Kiba, Neji, Rock Lee, Shikamaru, and a few more. With an extensive crop of ninja to choose from and new supers to pull off, fighting game fans will undoubtedly have a field day with a sequel that retains all the elements that made the first game great. Ten characters are selectable at first but place holders for 10 additional characters may be unlocked eventually. At the outset of each battle, the fighters do a little posturing in a short cinematic interlude before the action begins. Many of the same moves from the first Naruto may be found herein with Naruto doing his arched back wallop and jaunty high kicks. Impressive super attacks may be pulled off where a cinematic sequence shows the fighter concentrating and then owning the opponent completely for a few seconds of screen magic. Effects include little dust clouds that kick up as fighters scurry about and fluorescent light sparks which demonstrate the impact of blows. Some background montages also feature spot animation while others are entirely static. Energetic music and smashing effects meld well with the action for a pleasing fighting experience. | C.P. (1): Outstanding Game |
 |
| Whether you have friends or not, this game is a must for the fighting fans. Even if you aren't into fighting games that much (like me) you will have a blast with Naruto 2. There is much to do in single player and it never gets boring. Multiplayer is icing on the cake. Have 3 friends over and you'll be playing this game for hours. In short, just buy this game. Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 2 is definitely worth your hard earned cash. |

| Owen (7): Great Game |
 |
| This is going to be a straightfoward no bullsh*t review.
Story
I really dont know cause basically the game is in japanese BUT if you watched the series the game progresses through the series. It goes from the saga's naruto has been in and keeps it that way. Decent story and very long unlike the first game. That is a BIG BIG improvement in the game.
Fighting
If you played the first one like me it is basically the same and its not all that much changed. Yet the fighting in this one now is a bit more smoother and crisp. The fluid movements unlike the choppy movements in part one improves this game fighting system to the T.
The fighting if you want to know is a basic button masher. They made this game for the fan who just want to button mash his way to victory or for the hardcore who wants to fight with stratergy.
Me i fight on lvl 4 which is the hardest lvl. Hey This lvl is actually pretty difficult and intricate when it wants to be. Once you master the game though it is simple and your ready to kick your friends butts hehe...
The fighting system buttons are setup as a basic controller. Starts from B to attack, A to throw shirukens, X to do specials and Y to throw. This is the basic setup but the buttons layout is real simple yet if your fighting you want to think before you attack.
Juggles in the game makes you vulernable and useless but thanks to the replacement technique where your juutsu bar is used to turn yourself into a log and you can counter attack your enemy. VERY useful technique.
Characters
This is the part of the game that killed the first one. Even though the first game was a big success to the series it was mostly a let down that only 10 characters (7 original and 3 secret) were only in the game. Unlike the first one though this game has a roster of 20+ characters to your disposal. Some of your favorites like:
Naruto
Sakura
Sasuke
Kakashi
Rock Lee
Hinate
Haku
Zabuza
Many more since i dont want to spoil it really cause hey it may be a import but maybe some people here is getting the game and they dont want to know.
The character roster is real high and really good depending on who your good with. The game really did improve on the roster.
4 Player battle
Now this feature even shocked me. You and 3 of your other friends can duke it out to fight in a melee type battle. The Z button is your main button to switch who you want to attack. The melee feature adds a lot of replay value and makes the game really fun. from melee to team and handicap you cant go wrong.
Overall
My last review on this game was short and now this game got a GREAT review. This is a cube title that I personally wished came to America. usually anime fighters suck but Naruto is a exception to this. This game is a
10 Out of 10.
A really big improvement from the first one.
