As if the life of a farmer wasn't enough of a chore, the latest Harvest Moon game throws all of the usual farm problems at the player and an ambitious arch-rival named Rion. The rival competes for the sale of produce, total shipments made, and happiness musical notes (to revive the Harvest Goddess). It's enough to turn gentlemen farmers into conniving jackals. Sadly, there's still no futures market for commodity price hedging and speculation but perhaps in the next Harvest Moon... Players may choose to play as a male or female farmer at the outset of the game. Once settled on the farm, Ellen will pay a visit and give the player a dog as a gift. In addition to a dog, the player may also bring a well-mannered pig into the house as a second pet. There's a large assortment of seeds to sow and a useful tactic is to water the soil before planting which will make seeds sprout and grow faster. The prewatering also somehow increases the sale price of the produce when its time to harvest and ship to market. For amorous farmers, the pool of potential mates is larger than previous Harvest Moon games with a total of 10 possible husbands or wives for the protagonist to romance and wed. Bokujou Monogatari (Farm Story) Shiawase no Shi is also known as "Harvest Moon: Poem of Happiness." View the back cover and screenshots.
