Dragon Drive for the Cube hails from developer Treasure who try their hand at a 3-D shooter based on the animation of the same name. As the story goes, an average high school student-slacker named Reiji plays a VR game called Dragon Drive where he discovers a knack for the game. During a training session, a cosmic mishap shunts Reiji into an alternative universe where he rides a dragon and battles competitors in a real-life Dragon fighting game. Dragon encounters take place in 3-D arenas above cities, over dusty desert patches, black seas and other atmospheric environs. Up to 43 different types of dragons may be fought which range from the heavily armored but slow to the sprightly but easily damaged. As your dragon levels up to higher skill sets, it will attain new powers, armor and fighting techniques to bolster it's attack. An art gallery may be filled up with dragon cards when they are discovered in levels as you motor through the game. The first production of the Dragon Drive game includes a bonus disk containing an episode of the animation, playable on your Gamecube.
