When things take a strange turn at the screening of a Captain Blue film, Joe finds himself donning spandex and fighting to save girlfriend Sylvia. Inspired by his cinema hero, Joe goes through levels by beating assorted goons and solving simple puzzles. Punches and kicks are the mainstay of Joe's assault but special powers are in the wings consisting of slow-down, mach-speed and zoom. The first two powers affect the physics of the game while zoom blows out a local ground attack on close foes.

| Dreayime-Boi (3): The Best Street Fighting Cartoon Beat them up Video Game! |
| Man you guys are Fegitives. Viewtiful Joe was made in the USA before the Japanese had there own. And I like this game. I keep on playing the Demo all the time because I don't have the real game. I can't wait Until they release Viewtiful Joe II. And then they'll heve better characters. What if he'll be on the Next Capcom V.S. SNK 3 E.O.? He will be able to use techniques faster! Man thats good! This kid has style. If he was made in Japan. Why do I see "Viewtiful Joe" on the Japanese cover. Viewtiful Joe is suppose to be in Japanese characters like this "Biyuitefuru-Jo"! Thats Japanese. Thats not Japanese that I seek. Viewtiful Joe. That means that we made it before they did because english is official then Japanese Characters. Get it! DTZ was made in Japan. And the name for it is this "JaraigonTsuriiga Zuru"! Sounds Japanese do it? Man it does. But as I was saying. Viewtiful Joe is a Video man that controls Video reality. It's amasing. I wish the Revival Version is released! And with the Japanese Version. I'd like to get it on Nintendo GameCube. |

| ElChapulin (1): BEST BEAT 'EM UP IN THE MARKET!!! |
| I own a domestic Gamecube and I always wanted to import japanese games. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know that it was possible to play import games on a Gamecube. Then, last week, I saw an import review for Viewtiful Joe on www.ign.com, and they said that this game was import friendly. As soon as I saw a few screenshots of the game, I gained a strong interest in the game. After surfing the net for a little bit, I found this site and saw that VJ was selling at $60. Even further, I learned about the existence of the FreeLoader, which I believe is one of the coolest gadgets for the NGC. When I finally got the game, I was shocked and amazed at its beauty. I've played a hell lot of beat 'em ups in the past for many systems, but nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to this masterpiece. The graphics and character animations are the best that I've seen so far. One of the game stronger points: its gameplay. Just the fact that you can control time to dodge your enemy attacks, or to speed up and destroy you opponents in a blink of an eye, or to zoom in and zoom out during an attack is beyond my imagination. I think that VJ takes the gameplay to a whole new level. Sorry that this review is a "bit" long, but I just want to make sure that you get this game. You have to experience VJ to fully understand what I'm trying to say. And if you can't wait for the game to come out on October, (which by the way I'm also getting the domestic version ;P) then don't worry and import it. This game is very import friendly and you won't have any problems playing it. Well, I did my part with the review...now is your turn to go and get this game. |

| Fanboy Floyd (4): One of the best of 2003 |
| I was on fence about getting this game but then I kept reading great reviews on message boards. The USA version is coming out in October and I was going to wait. But then the fanboy in me took over and I bought it with a Freeloader. I'm glad I did. Viewtiful Joe may looks like a regular platformer but it is one of the best games I've played this year. I don't want to spoil the game by revealing it to anyone who hasn't played it but it is fun and the special powers are cool. The USA version is probably gonna have some new cover art since I think the cover to the Japanese one is great but Joe is a little fruity looking. |
