A new production of the HRAP3 was shipped to us last night and we expect to fill all backorders on Thursday. New orders are welcome.

Update: February 7, 2007
«©NCSX» New orders are welcome for Hori's third (canonical, not chronological) Real Arcade Pro Joystick which uses the same form-factor and case of the other Real Arcade Pro sticks. Similar to earlier HRAPs, the new stick uses actual arcade buttons and a clicky Sanwa lollipop-style joystick to give gamers an authentic coin-op experience at home. A heavy duty base completes the package to give the controller a weight of nearly 6 lbs or 2600g.

The RAP3 features the same button arrangement found on the RAP2 with the eight standard buttons (face and trigger) in red and the START and SELECT buttons in a bright yellow patina. The RAP3 does away with the row of slide levers on the upper left corner of the stick which controlled rapid-fire on the RAP2. Hori uses a more elegant solution this time around and adds a "PS" button. The RAP3 connects to the PS3 by way of USB cable and the analog thumbsticks on the SixAxis controller may be emulated by toggling a slide lever which switches from D-pad, L-analog, or R-analog control. Preorders are shipping today and new orders are welcome.

NCS Product Notes
» Hori packages the RAP3 economically (read: poorly) inside the retail container. Egg carton cardboard is used to retain both sides of the heavy RAP3 which means that the joystick will see a good amount of bouncing while in transit. We don't understand the lack of care in packaging the sticks at the factory since an additional cardboard retainer would only cost about a dime. To alleviate this problem, we will add some additional bubble wrap inside the package to minimize the amount of movement while the stick is in transit.

» The dimensions of the joystick are 412 x 243 x 135mm or 16.22 x 9.56 x 5.31" so it'll cover your lap nicely. The base of the joystick is made of metal and the USB cable measures 3 meters or 9.84' which is adequate for our little game testing room.

» Please note that the HRAP3 ships in a box that triggers dimensional weight shipping charges of 20 lbs. As such, NCS recommends only shipping by UPS Ground within the United States and USPS Airmail for our international customers.

GTDudley (1): This Stick is it!!!
I just got my HRAPS3 in today and I can't be happier. I'm fairly new to the arcade stick scene, but I'm glad I opted for this instead of the fighting stick 3. The stick is very weighty and feels solid and sturdy. The Sanwa stick is just like you would imagine one to be (slightly loose, highly responsive, and extremely well built). The Hori buttons that come stock with it aren't that bad to start off, but if you're an arcade vet then you might want switch them out for official sanwa OBSF-30's if you want the best experience. The Hori buttons are pretty sensitive, but they aren't too keen for piano tapping if you're used to light touches to pull of harder moves or strings more precisely. The moves will most likely register, but the slight mushiness of the button won't really give you a good indication that you pressed it well enough. If you are the type to hammer on your buttons( ala MVC2) then you will be okay if you don't want to switch them out. NCSX provided great service and got the stick out to me extremely quickly. I'll definitely come back to this site to shop for any import products I may need.
Saabu (1): Nice
Best arcade stick you can get for pc/ps3 without any modding.
Darkzero (2): A solid stick
I received this stick a little while back from NCSX and all I can say is, this is a pretty solid stick. The advantages to this stick is that its built solidly and will last a long while. Since the playstation update that fixed the inability to use this with my other PS2 fighters, there is only one (Maybe two) things that hold it back. The stick is outfitted with a Sanwa ball type stick and Hori buttons. The stick feels fine but the buttons don't really give the impression that you've actually pressed them down. The base is well made so that you can either mount it on a table and not have it move, or, mount it on your lap. When first playing with this arcade stick, many people will first feel the difference between the arcade stick at the arcade, and the one you have right now. This can be a pro and a con depending on how you enjoy moving the joystick. The base of the joystick is a square base rather than the circular base( Tekken Arcade style) found in many arcades. With that in mind, it may be harder to pull off Quarter Circles and Half circles. On the plus side, Uppercut motion is pretty easy on this stick. The only real big problem is the home button located on the stick. This may just be mine but randomly (not often) the home button will press when I didn't press it. On a PS3, this causes the screen to go into the menu mode and completely throws off my rhythm while playing Guilty Gear Accent Core. While its very rare that it happens, it does get annoying. The bottom line of this arcade stick is that it is solidly built. If you don't mind the square base instead of the circle base, this is a pretty solid buy. (P.S : Many people still wonder if arcade sticks work with the PS3 while playing PS2 arcade games. With the patch that I have right now, 1.93, it does work. Just to clear some confusion.)
