Update: February 23, 2006 «©NCSX» Romance of the Three Kingdoms III returns to the gaming world once again with touch screen functionality added for stylus wielding warlords. As the lord of a principality, one must allocate resources, tax the base, make alliances, and wage war against growing kingdoms to keep the balance of power in check. At least, until you're ready to make your own move for world domination. If the stylus isn't your cup of oolong, standard d-pad and button control may be toggled. The top NDS screens keeps track of empire stats, portraits of characters and the bottom screen depicts the world map and commands to be executed. Battle sequences are also shown on the bottom NDS screen while the top screen shows stats of the combatants. Up to 5 players may link up for tactical battles. To become supreme ruler, dominate all 46 lands and unite them under the crest of your house. Select a ruler from 32 possible choices including well known historical figures such as Cao Cao and Liu Bei as well as warlords such as Yuan Shu and administrators such as Sun Jian. Even the famous pre-Tang Dynasty poet Tao Qian gets to rule. Once the game starts, rulers may want to draft an army from the citizenry to bolster defenses and cultivate the land to ensure a viable food supply for the populace and soldiers. Extending an offer of alliance to nearby rulers may also be wise to build up a little coalition to stave off attack. From there, your little principality should grow with wise allocation of resources and marshaling of forces. View the back cover and screenshots on the main NCSX website.
