He's in a static pose where he seemingly tips his hat and soon afterwards, the title screen appears » Start a new game and you're in a dusty western town where a female language teacher in a pink shawl yelps and runs from an unseen danger. If you take longer than normal, the kana that you need to write will slowly appear above the kanji characters on the placard to help you out. Once you write the proper characters, the ninja will be banished from the screen. If you're not quick enough on the draw, the ninja will leap forward and attack. A health bar on the top of the screen drops with each blow. » After the first area is completed, new areas open up which feature different scenarios and situations to conquer with blazing kanji skills. » Kanji no Wataridori contains about 10,000 placard exercises which tests at the junior high school level.
