«©NCSX» A millennium prior to the story set in Lunar: Silver Star Story, a courier for Gad's Express named Gien Campbell finds himself in the unlikely position of hero. The world of Lunar is populated by humans and dominant half-beasts with cohabitation becoming increasingly tenuous. One day, Gien is sent on a delivery job to the half-beast town of Heelritz where he realizes that things between humans and half-beasts aren't as rosy as he thought they were. Tensions are running high but a larger threat looms in the distance, placing both populations at peril. With circumstances leading him from package delivery man into world spanning adventurer, Gien leads a party on a quest to beat back an invasion of Vile Tribe demons. Rounding out the crew are Lucia Collins, Gabriel Ryan, Flora Banks, and Rufus Crow.

A Light and Dark battle system is used where dark beasts are changed into light creatures in order to defeat them. Battle cards are also flipped to trigger special attacks or endow party members with temporary attributes or protections. Lunar features stylus taps to move around a world map and the microphone is also utilized where players shout instructions to vamoose from battle.

During encounters, a party of three warriors bounce on the bottom of the screen while enemies are arrayed before them. Before each phase, players give instructions to each party member, be it Fight, Use Magic, or Use Item. The Fight option launches an attack while Magic allows for the use of spells such as heal or fiery blasts. Battles run fairly quickly with short animations that are entertaining to watch. When an attack is triggered, the characters bounds towards the enemy and punches, slashes, hacks, and beats in a frenzy of action. Magical attacks are also shown in full blown motion which causes damage numbers to pop out of the affected beasts.

Also known as Lunar: Dragon Song.
