Update: August 23, 2006 «©NCSX» A lad suffering from amnesia stumbles into a town and has the extreme luck to faint right in front of the house of a kindly young gal. She rushes out, hands him a hoe, a watering can, and something to eat. With that inauspicious beginning, the lad becomes a farmer with a penchant for exploring the land and going on adventures. At the outset of the game, the hero occupies a farmhouse which is adjacent to a large field. The land is cluttered with twigs, plants, rocks, and acorn-like things. By cleaning up the field and tilling bare ground, the land is made ready for agriculture. A pack of seeds is on hand at the beginning but more seeds may be purchased at the town "Parts" store for profitable cash crops.View the back cover and screenshots on the main NCSX website.
NCS Game Notes » Stumbling into town and then fainting, the protagonist of Rune Factory has an inauspicious start but with help from a gal and good horse sense, a farm is nevertheless started where a big field is cleared of saleable debris, the soil tilled, and seeds planted for valuable cash crops. Most helpful is the close proximity of the town square which houses an inn, a parts store which sells seeds, a blacksmith, and other shops which provide everything a farmer could want or need. When one gets a nip of the wanderlust, exploration outside of the farm may result in monster battles.» To go to sleep, walk up to the bed and press the "A" button. Press "A" again on the first option and protagonist will yawn, raise his arms and hop into bed. He wakes up at exactly 6AM the next day and every day. » To run, hold down the R-trigger and move in any direction. » Earn money by picking up the plants and debris on your field. Within the first 2 days of collecting, you will earn 2185G by selling the items to shop owners. » As time passes during the course of a day, the light gradually darkens. Near sunset, the land takes on a chestnut colored hue. » Many areas such as caves are not accessible at the outset of the game. » Time passes in the game regardless if you are doing anything. Stand around like a scarecrow in your field and the time still ticks down until it's night time. There are places however where time stands still - go inside any building and the flow of time is arrested. In Rune Factory, 10 seconds of real world time = 10 minutes of game time. » The water can holds 12 doses of water. Once depleted, run back to the fountain for a refill. » Fields should be tilled in 3 x 3 areas since that's the covering/spread of a single seed planting. To plant, press "START" and use the stylus to move the seed from inventory to the sword icon. Press "START" again to exit and then position the protagonist in the center square of a 3 x 3 field. Press the "B" button and he'll leap up twice and spread the seed all around him to cover the area. » Once seeds are planted, each tilled square should be watered each day for the seedlings to pop up. Falter and they may just sit dormant in the ground. Some seeds sprout faster than others. » The field contains a bunch of tree stumps. Sadly, there's no mushroom kits in the game to seed the stumps with mushroom spawn in order to break the stumps down and also cultivate a cash crop at the same time. » Everyone says "Konnichiwa" in their own special way when you greet them in town or in the various shops. » To save your progress to DS card or access the Wi-Fi function, run to the right of the screen to where the seashell structure on the beach is located. » Monsters may be befriended who will help perform farming chores and accompany the protagonist on exploration runs. Monsters will also help with other tasks around the farm. » There's a wharf at the edge of town where player's may cast a lure and do some fishing. Other bodies of water may also be used as fishing spots with different and exotic species lurking below. Jan Code: 4988110022289 This document is ©NCSX 2006. All rights reserved.
