Description
Update: June 15, 2006
«©NCSX» Portable Zoids games of recent note have generally been RPGs with a battling element thrown in. Tomy breaks from tradition and puts Zoids Dash firmly in the scrolling platform action genre.

After outfitting the default Zoids beast with four weapons which are assigned to the face buttons, players jump, gallop, and blast away in fast paced exploits. To jump, press up on the D-pad or hit either trigger button.

The game runs in fluid motion with melee and projectile attack rippling off responsively to every button push. The first level is straightforward where one dominates a number of attackers before meeting a winged boss that's grounded at first but as it suffers damage, takes to the air and flies around. Since it's not aggressive and and shoots conservatively, the first boss is easily dominated. The second level places the player in a ledge filled desert with cavernous areas underneath. There's a small body of water where the Zoids moves around as easily as on land. The end boss in the level is a red boar-like Zoid with a cannon mounted on its back. Scratch, bite, and hurl missiles at it to progress to the next level. After defeating the boar boss, the Zoids will gain a double-barreled laser cannon. Over 40 missions are featured in the game and various parts may be picked up over the course of the action to bolster the performance of a Zoid.

After completing the first mission, visit the garage and collect your just rewards. Note that the next missions will not open up until you perform this step. Players may check the stats of their Zoids and new missions open up which are selectable on the third option on the main selection screen. The options are as follows:

Option 1: Visit garage and collect rewards or enter secret code
Option 2: Outfit a Zoids mech with weaponry
Option 3: Select a mission
Option 4: Save game

The bottom screen depicts the weapon systems and charges left. If you use too much of one weapon too much, its stock will be depleted and you'll have to wait for it to recharge before using again. All of the actual in-game action takes place on the top NDS screen.
