Description
Update: September 12, 2008
«©NCSX» The Origin Form of the centipede-like monster known as Giratina strikes a pose on the cover of Nintendo's latest Pokemon adventure. The creature also appears on the title screen of the game to ensure that gamers know that its the driving force in Pokemon Platinum's storyline.

At the outset of the game, players may choose either a female or male protagonist and enter his/her name in hiragana, katakana, or English. We named our male hero, "NCSXS" since only five spaces are available for the name entry. In the early going, the hero will visit Pearl's abode, select a starter Pokemon from three choices (Pochama, Naetoru, or Hikozaru) and receive a Pokedex from Professor Rowan. The game follows the format of previous Pokemon games with exploration, information gathering, and monster battling all rolled into the adventure.

NCS Game Notes
» The Origin Form of Giratina appears on the title screen with six waving red vestiges weaving too and fro behind its back.

» Upon starting the game, a short tutorial gives pointers on the button commands and general gist of Platinum.

» You may choose a female or male protagonist - the female heroine is on the left side of the screen while the male protagonist is on the right side.

» Name entry may be made in Katakana, Hiragana, or English. The name entry field is limited to 5 characters so we had to go with "NCSXS"

» Save your progress at any time by pressing the "X" button and highlight the third (or fourth) option on the menu that depicts a pencil on a notepad. Press "A" to select it and then press "A" two more times to save the data to the game card.

» Similar to previous handheld Pokemon games, diagonal movement does not exist. Onscreen protagonists can only move up, down, left, and right.

» Pokemon Platinum is an extension of the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl adventures so many of the locations found in those earlier releases are found in Platinum including Wayward Cave, Oreburgh Mine, Jubilife City, Veilstone City, and more.
