Update: March 20, 2008
«©NCSX» Take a trip to the land of Arumia and adopt the role of a male or female Pokemon Ranger who has just graduated from Ranger school. At the outset of the game, players may choose a starter Pokemon partner from 17 available creatures including the mighty Gonbe (Munchlax), Naetle (Turtwig), Hikozaru (Chimchar), and Gureggru (Croagunk). For our game this morning, we chose the male character Hajime and coupled him with a bird Pokemon named Mukkuru aka Starly.

As a newly inducted member of the Ranger Corps, players roam around Arumia and go on missions for the greater good while optional subquests may be taken on to help citizens in need of assistance. The rival force in Batonnage is a crew known as Team YamiYami

NCS Game Notes
» At the outset of the game, a male or female ranger may be chosen. After choosing your sex and confirming your selection, the character shrinks from lanky young adult to super-deformed Pokemon champion.

» After choosing your character, Pikachu appears on the screen and runs around while shooting off electrical charges. Your job is to use the stylus to draw blue circles around the beast to subdue it.

» The next scene takes place at school where you give a name to your character in hiragana, katakana, or English. A short introductory sequence plays out in the classroom but once it's over, head out to door and up the stairs to the north or roam around the school in general to explore.

» The stylus may be used for movement. Simply tap on a point on the screen and the protagonist will move in the direction of the tap. Speaking to someone doesn't require you to be right next to him - you can be halfway across the room and tapping on the NPC will initiate a conversation.

» After talking to everyone, head out of the school through the door to the south on the first floor. Head on over to the building on the left. A tutorial will start which teaches gamers how to capture Pokemon by drawing complete circles around them. Soon afterwards, a bunch of rodent Pokemon escape so go outdoors and capture them all with the stylus circle technique.

» Once the rodents are corralled, you're free to wander around the campus and capture different types of Pokemon that are scampering around. Once a creature is captured, it'll join your party and follow you around. Up to three Pokemon may join your party. If you capture a fourth, you'll have to choose one to release.

» To capture a Pokemon quickly, draw tight circles around it rapidly and it won't have a chance to counter with its power and break the barrier.
