«©NCSX» When average Japanese citizens need a helping hand, they normally turn to the Ouendan gang as featured in the wildly popular NDS Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan game. Those boys know how to cheer up a storm to help the hapless. However, when the Ouendan are too busy running around town, the torch is apparently handed over to a new hero who wears yellow spandex with red racing stripes.

Meet Minon, a racing fool who high steps his way through obstacles, routes, pathways, and other "roads" to help people in need. For example, in the first level of the game, a little girl is happily walking and carrying a balloon when a mole burrows upwards and causes her to trip. She loses her grip on the helium-filled balloon which flies up into the heavens. Tears well up in the little scamp's eyes since tragedy has just befallen her. Never fear however since Minon is on the job. Race across a park area atop domino-like protrusions that pop up from the ground. Pressing the "B" button on the Wii Remote solidifies the segmented domino pathways so that Minon circles the park and eventually recovers the balloon like a champ. Later levels add forking paths and obstacles to the mix.

NCS Game Notes
» The title screen shows a flighty hero in jumpsuit accompanied by a canine. Leave it alone and nothing happens except for the pulsating logo and the jumping options selector on the bottom of the screen. Has Success learned nothing about attract screens and demo modes?

» Press "A" on the title screen and the three selections that appear are as follows:

STORY MODE / Eight stages of action await the intrepid action hero
VERSUS MODE / Engage against a second player (Non-CPU only)
OPTIONS / Adjust BGM and SE volumes, Toggle Wii Remote vibration

» In the mode selection screen, you can watch the hero of the game bouncing around on multi-colored dominos in the background while his cape flows behind him. He'll continue running around knocking 'em down and they'll continue to get right back up after he steps on them. Once you've got a game or three under your belt, a GALLERY MODE is added to the selection screen.

» Start a STORY MODE game and you'll be prompted to select a save game slot from three available options. As the first mission begins, a little girl and boy are walking when she trips over a mole in the ground. She lets go of her precious balloon and cries out for help but the hero Minon is there to help a sista out.

» Your job is to press the "B" button on the Wii Remote to manifest domino platforms for the hero Minon to walk upon. You can slow his running by pressing the "A" button but he'll only be held for only a few seconds. As he continues running he'll step on trees, colored dominos and anything else that's in his pre-determined path. Along the way, little citizens wander around on their daily routes oblivious to the vaunted hero among them. Occasionally, you'll see someone cheering Minon's progress as he high steps it across the level.

» The first level is fairly short and a REPLAY is shown after you complete the level so you can see what you contributed to Minon's running theatrics. Afterwards, Minon recovers the girl's balloon and gives it back to her. She is strangely appreciative and shows her glee by twirling around with her balloon in hand.

» In the next level, a golfer swings and hits the ball close to the tee while an exasperated guy wrings himself in the background. The golfer later almost sinks the ball into the hole and the background guy goes crazy. Minon appears with a soft drink in hand and shrinks into miniature size. His job is to step his way through the grass and help nudge the golf ball into the hole. This level adds the wrinkle of paths to take - there are multiple routes as Minon runs and there's generally only one correct path that'll take you to the golf ball. If pink domino outlines appear, that's wrong and you'll have to correct the path quickly before Minon falls and loses his trajectory. When running across this particular level, a gang of ants may be seen marching and chomping on grass. In the middle of the level, a mole appears to block your way but perform a hammering (up and down) motion with the Wii Remote and Minon will knock the mole underground and take a burrowing ride across the golf course. If you're on the correct path, you should only take one mole ride. If you are on a second mole ride later in the level, you've taken a wrong turn somewhere so correct your path by checking out the golf ball located on the upper right corner of the screen is accompanied by an arrow to give you an idea of where to go next and where to highlight the next group of yellow domino outlines. You'll know you're close to the golf ball when you find Minon stepping on a lot of grass stalks. You're on the right path if you pass two red pointer arrows which show the way to the golf ball. Minon eventually reaches the golf ball and knocks it into the hole upon which time the two golfers celebrate. Taking a correct path will allow you to finish the level in under two minutes. If your time exceeds that you've made a wrong turn somewhere.

» In the third level, an apartment building is shown but the camera soon zooms inside where kids crowd around poppy sitting on a sofa and watching a television show. The kids are exceedingly clingy and won't allow him to each answer the phone which is literally ringing off the hook. He needs help and cries out for assistance. As usual, Minon is there. In this level, Minon runs across the tops of buildings and his first objective is to reach the big black phone on the lower left corner of the level. That represents the person calling the father. Once you've reached the phone, head for the top of the transmission towers and hammer the Wii Remote so that Minon is transformed into an electric impulse which travels across phone lines before becoming Minon again. Next, head for the father's red phone so that Minon can complete the circuit and connect the father with the phone. There are no arrows to help you in this particular level so its more difficult to find the target apartment building but you'll know you're near when you hear the loud ringing of the phone. There's a wrecking ball in this particular level which you can leap on top of and then get propelled like a rocket by hammering down on it with the Wii Remote.

» Go! Go! Minon features a total of 8 wacky stages to play. After the third level, they become progressively more difficult and convoluted so get ready to invest a lot of concentration and on-the-fly decision making as Minon races across the various stages.
