Nintendo is giving out paper notifications with Dairantou Smash Bros X because the game is a dual-layer DVD which may cause read errors with some Wii consoles. Apparently, DVD9 discs require that the Wii's laser be at optimum condition in order to be read. If you smoke or if your home is overly dusty, particulates from the air may enter the drive mechanism of the Wii and degrade its ability to read DVD9 discs such as Smash Bros X. In Japan, Nintendo is asking customers to send in their Wii consoles for drive cleaning but in the USA, you can probably use a wet/dry cleaning disc to remove any dust or other particulates from the drive lens. Please note that Japanese Wii games such as "Dairantou Smash Bros X" are not compatible with USA or European Wii consoles due to the region coding on the game discs. Please do not purchase this game if you only have a USA or European Wii since you won't be able to play it.

Today's update supercedes all previous updates regarding Dairantou Smash Bros X
Our initial shipments of Smash Bros X are scheduled to arrive on Thursday of this week. We were able to obtain more copies than we originally expected after receiving the bad news from suppliers on Sunday night. We'll notify customers by email today if your order is shipping on Thursday. The remainder of our Smash Bros X shipments are scheduled to arrive no later than Wednesday or Thursday of next week and we'll be able to fill all remaining preorders and any new orders at that time.
So, was there really a "shortage"? Some of our suppliers in Hong Kong won't be getting any copies until this weekend which makes it more of a delay than an actual shortage. We also note that most of our Japanese vendors will receive the bulk of their supplies on February 2 and February 4 which is a few days later than the official street date. We'll update further if anything changes but everything looks good for next week. In related news, a gouger vendor in Japan noticed our Smash Bros update yesterday and asked if we were interested in paying JPY8500 per copy for their Smash Bros supply. They informed us that they would be "very pleased to supply you." Our usual suppliers have kept their prices at regular levels so we'll hold off on buying any Smash Bros at ¥8500.

Today's update supercedes all previous updates regarding Dairantou Smash Bros X
We have recieved invoices earlier today for this week's upcoming import shipments but please note that there will be a serious shortage of the Wii Dairantou Smash Bros X game. Our Japanese and Hong Kong suppliers have notified us that Nintendo will only ship 25% of the game this week due to a production shortage. For example, if a vendor originally ordered 100 copies of the game, they will only receive 25 copies.
Due to the shortage, we will not be able to fill all of our preorders this week. According to Japanese distributors, additional supplies of the game will be available next week (February 6-7) to fill the remainder of our preorders. We will update our customers over the next couple of days to keep everyone informed as more news is released. We're sending this email to our customers as a heads up about what's happening in Japan with regards to Smash Bros X. NCS apologies for this problem but we'll try to fill everyone's preorders as soon as possible. Thanks for your attention.
Note: New orders placed on and after January 21 may not ship until February 5-6 due to a possible shortage of the game in Japan. Preorders for the Japanese Wii import Dairantou Smash Brothers X received before January 21, 2008 will ship on January 31, 2008. Update: Vendors in Japan have warned us that there might be a shortage of the game. Due to this news, preorders placed on January 20 and afterwards may not ship until the first week of February 2008.
