A new remote control unit for use with the SCPH-50000 which follows the design sensibilities of the original. A "RESET" button is added to the top-right portion of the remote while an "OPEN/CLOSE" button graces the top-left corner. Since Sony has yet to release a remote control for the new SCPH-50001 console, the Japanese SCPH-10420 remote controller may be used without any problems. The USA SCPH-50001 console have a built-in IR receiver and the remote control drivers are already loaded onto firmware. Please note that the SCPH-10420 remote controller will not work with older versions of the USA PS2 since the IR receiver and drivers are not built into consoles before SCPH-50001.
