Update: July 22, 2004 Earlier in the year, Sony released the Ceramic White Playstation console in Japan and included a copy of Gran Turismo 4 Prologue with it. There was a general clamor for the bundle and we shifted a good amount to hungry stateside and European consumers. We sold our last Ceramic a few weeks ago and the prospects of restock appear dim. Following on the heels of the Ceramic White console, Sony shipped the Pearl White PS2 model last week which is based on the newer SCPH-50000 series. What's the difference between Ceramic White and Peal White one might venture to ask? At first glance, both consoles appear to be identical. White is white. Step closer and one begins to notice the subtle difference between Ceramic and Pearl White. Ceramic has a dull finish and the case seemingly absorbs light and heat. Pearl White is lacquered. It's shiny and appears to reflect all manner of light and even heat that's directed at it. There. Attention: Japanese PS2 consoles are only capable of playing Japanese PS2, Asian PS2 and Korean PS2 software and Japanese Region 2 movie DVDs.
