The Sakura colored PS2, originally released in the spring of 2003, enjoys a revival to coincide with the latest Sakura Taisen game. Whereas the first Sakura PS2 was based on the older SCPH-39000 motherboard, the new Sakura PS2 model for 2004 is built on the new SCPH-50000 series of PS2 which includes a built-in IR receiver, a quieter fan and progressive scan video output. Attention: Japanese PS2 consoles are only capable of playing Japanese PS2, Asian PS2 and Korean PS2 software and Japanese Region 2 movie DVDs.
