Update: July 31, 2003 «©NCSX» The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Hungry Ghosts takes this adage and runs with it. Destined to descend into the depths of hell after living a life of debauchery and misdeeds, the protagonist in the game starts the walk downstairs while wandering the spirit world. Before hitting that final fiery location however, protag is given the opportunity to redeem himself for past sins and transgressions. The world of spirits is however brimming with wrathful entities, vengeful beings and other discarnates which may foil your road to redemption. Sony dubs the system in the game "free roam" where players may choose to act in whatever way they deem proper. Killing others will obviously doom you to hell but staying meek will also rouse forth a poor recommendation when you're standing before the final judge. The game starts off atop a bridge while hazy misty wafts across the screen. It's spooky. Walk forward and each footstep may be heard along with the occasionally creak from the dodgy bridge. Continue forward and the protagonist eventually enters a boat. Look back and the hooded ferryman speaks for a spell about the many deaths that the protagonist has caused before taking him to a village of the dead. We noticed that the ferryman (aka the Grim Reaper) wasn't paid. When the protagonist disembarks from the boat, he's carrying a spear which will come in handy soon afterwards. To open to gate, look at it by pressing the "O" button and then use the R-Analog thumbstick to move your right hand to grab the handle and push it open. To commit suicide, it's possible to walk right off the pier at the outset of the game and condemn yourself immediately. Jan Code 4948872150460 This document is ©NCSX 2003. All rights reserved.
