When one conjures up images of ninja, black garb and shadowy stealth are roused up from the depths of recollection. Stealth walking, camouflage and silent movement are key to a ninja's ability to stay undetected during assassination attempts or other deeds best done in the shadows. None of these principles of stealth apply to kunoichi or lady ninja, apparently. Dressed in a bright-as-day red and white costume that is more reminiscent of Wonder Woman than the archetypal ninja exemplified by Hotsuma in Shinobi, kunoichi Hibana literally trails light wherever she walks. As the story goes, the life-sucking blade Akujiki has been busted up and scattered around Tokyo to ward off the forces of darkness. Enter the Nakatomi Corporation (no, not the company in Diehard) which has begun to gather the pieces of Akujiki for sinister purposes. Demonic forces have already invaded Tokyo proper and Hibana ventures forth to stop Nakatomi Corp from reconstituting the blade and stem the tide of demons before they overrun the city. Chain combo attacks or tates return in Kunoichi where Hibana zooms around the room and kills hapless enemies in a fluid, graceful sequence. An unlimited number of tates may be pulled off, or at least unlimited in as far as there are bodies available to slice.
