Start the game and space heroine Sarah Diesell's spacecraft is shown spinning through space where she immediately attacks a large winged machine of some abiliry. Evade its wall of shots and blast away as enemy ships start appearing in droves... The battle's been joined.

A fairly difficult vertical shooter, Psyvariar uses a system called "Buzz" where enemy fire whizzes by your circular-shaped ship and just misses it. Over the course of a level, up to 5000+ near misses may be made for a 5,000,000+ point bonus. This is especially ppossible in the third level where the end-level boss throws out an huge amount of laser fire and shots. In the last level, we average 7000+ buzz points, thanks to the massive attacks of the last boss. Overall, boss firing patterns are unfair to novice players and cover the entire screen in criss-cross fashion but shmup wizkids will be able to see the open areas and maneuver through the buckshot like second nature.
