After successful releases on the Dreamcast and more recently on Xbox, Psyvariar 2 reaches the Playstation 2 in a complete pack. Along with the game, a 2-hour capture DVD courtesy of Arcadia Magazine is bundled which records masterful transit through the levels by a Psyvariar 2 expert. Two play styles are captured: one play-through focuses on the shooting aspect while the second play-through focuses on buzzing. Watch with mouth agape as the ultimate player shows off supernatural skill and magnificent buzzing tactics where swarms of bullets are spun away with twirling MDS magic and bosses are defeated with abject simplicity. Even the most jaded Psyvariar 2 player will learn something from the DVD - we certainly picked up a few new tricks to try and abuse. In addition to the play-through footage, three songs (Absolute "zero," "The end of Volcano," and "The Cloudbank in the style of Idacchi"), and 100 pieces of artwork are included on the DVD for added value. In Psyvariar 2, player selects from a pair of Medium Drive Suits which are blessed with two skills. The first one is called the "Rolling Input System" where the mechs spin and rotate in the direction that the joypad/joystick is pointed. Perform a brisk semi-circle in continuous fashion and special attacks may be blasted out by spinning the mechs like mobile gatling guns. The second skill is the Buzz System where near-misses from enemy buckshot generate mass points. New to the Playstation 2 Psyvariar 2 game: ˚A stage (area) select option for levels that have already been completed ˚Graphics gallery mode - unlock pictures by completing levels or missions. ˚Boss HP meter - Helpful for determining how much life a big'un still has left. ˚Mission mode - Enjoy 40 missions with shooting or buzzing objectives - 20 missions focus on shooting while the other 20 require buzzing skills.
