When spring rolls around in Japan, holidays seem to pop up in quick succession from March through May. For example, March 3 is Girl's Day or Hina Matsuri where families wish daughters a healthy and happy life by displaying Hina dolls in the house. The dolls are supposed to absorb any negative energy and are then left on a roadside or abandoned, thus transferring the bad luck to an inert object. Sakura Yuki Gekka takes place during a holiday stretch but instead of enjoying the vacation away from school, the player is stuck on barren school grounds with a few classmates. Converse with schoolmates, seek romance and perhaps make a positive out of a negative experience. The stranded students are soon joined by a mysterious transfer student who adds a new wrinkle to the interaction.
