«©NCSX» Starting life as a manga, Dear Boys made the jump to an animated series in Japan earlier this year. Fresh from its television debut, Dear Boys jumps once again onto a new format with a cel-shaded PS2 action/interaction game. Konami also motion-captured the movements of real-life basketball players to allow for silky smooth team movements on the court. Join the boys in a 3-D basketball simulation where the players are shown as they run, dribble and dunk all over the place. Fast Break mixes action elements where the team players are maneuvered directly with interactive elements where dramatic cut-scenes show exciting events during the game. During these cut-scenes, some control is afforded the player where dribbling is controlled by the "TRIANGLE" button and special moves are pulled off by hitting the "R1" and "L1" triggers simultaneously. Two gauges colored green and blue show player stamina and team spirit. As the game wears on, players will lose stamina which affect their level of performance. Action-packed animations and dramatic sound effects add to the anime feel of the game. Konami also hired the voice actors from the television series to perform the speech effects and sayings in the during the hoops fun. Over 50 characters from the Dear Boys animation series appear and contribute to the Story Mode where the player tours with his team from Mizuho High School against six competing high school teams from East Honmoku, Tendouji High School and others.
