Update: March 18, 2004 «©NCSX» Back in the day, Koei developed and published resource management and war games exclusively. The company's bread and butter was in releases such as Sangokushi, Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition which were published for the Japanese PC and the 8-bit Famicom. The highly successful next-generation Shin Sangoku Musou franchise gets a little of that old school strategic style of gameplay in the "Empires" rendition of SSM3. Along with the familiar 3-D hack 'n slash action of the Sangoku Musou series, players are now required to maintain bastions in conquered states as well as develop resources and blacksmiths for higher weapon levels. Diligent resource management and allocation also helps to increase income from territories which in turn contributes to the health of armies under one's control. View the back cover.
