It's been 10 years since the invaders appeared and quickly took over the world by decimating all resistance. Just as humanity is about to give up the ghost, six armored superheroes seemingly appear out of nowhere to give hope to the oppressed. Named Dark, Jenus, Nyrguise, Ragna, Scene, and Sera, the AM Drivers battle with energy swords as well as laser cannons in real-time strategy action scenarios. Before a mission starts, a lead hero is chosen followed by two team members who provide backup muscle. The player only directly controls the lead during battle with the analog thumbstick while commands are issued to the two followers through the "Command" button. Each hero may equip up to three main weapons and a sub-weapon to use in battle. During an encounter, the main options are listed in English on the upper right corner of the screen as follows: ITEM: Use items in inventory such as repair kits
INFO: Check mission objectives and battlefield details
COMMAND: Issue directions and moves to teammates
STATUS: Check status of team members
WATCH: Check units on map
ESCAPE: Withdraw from battle Missions in the game consist of search and destroy scenarios and rescue excursions where members of the masses stumble into danger. The AM Drivers also provide protection services in some levels where important buildings and installations are guarded against attack. This item is also known as Get Ride! AM Driver: Soukoku no Sana.
