Update: June 28, 2006 «©NCSX» Iris Fortner and her childhood friend Edge Vanhite team up to find a magic tome which is rumored to grant the wishes of whomever possesses it. Anxious to get their paws on the book, the two head off on a quest to locate its whereabouts but they're not alone. Other groups have also been made aware of the magic book and a race for the treasure is ignited. Atelier Iris features conventional RPG action that's split into various quests that are cleared before new quests are opened up. As the party progresses through the adventure, the necessary information, hints, and NPC interaction eventually tie together to lead the party to their final destination. Although the name of the game bears Iris' name, Edge is the lead protagonist in an adventure which spans five worlds in addition to their own. Iris' specialty is the use of alchemy where base materials, items, and ingredients are bubbled together to create new items that may be used to aid the party in their multi world spanning quest. The battle system in Grand Fantasm is dubbed the "Active Cost Card Battle" which decides the sequence of attacks and actions along with the time remaining before a special attack may be triggered.
