Description
Update: September 19, 2007
«©NCSX» Warring states have fractured the land into contentious factions where no peace rests. Rise up as a military leader who battles to unite the land under one gauntlet. Before the unification, a lot of blood must be spilled and the players fights against entire armies on expansive battlefields in the style of Shin Sangoku Musou. A number of heroes may be chosen from a roster that includes sword fighters, stealthy ninja, and samurai. Along with the usual assortment of swords, firearms are also available for offensive variety. Heroes level up as they gain experience and may also enhance their weapons as they grow in stature. Every hero may also perform special moves that are specific to their own fighting styles and/or skills.

NCS Game Notes
* The intro to the game shows off the main generals in action-packed sequences where they engage waves of enemies. It ends with a gigantic Oda Nobunaga rising from a ruined temple.

* Game modes are as follows:

-Conquest- Choose one of six warriors at the outset and conquer lands with hordes of armies.

-Free Battle- Select one of six available characters such as Devil King, Scorpio, Venus, or Lady Butterfly and chop through masses of foes.

-Play Demo- Watch the game play itself in full blown action where the buttons are explained along with the attacks, boost attacks, Fury Gauge, and Prime. Hundred+ hit combos are also shown.

-Gallery- Peruse unlockable characters, movies, and listen to a BGM collection.

-Options- Set dual shock vibration, sound volumes, health gauge on/off, camera settings, etc.

* In Conquest Mode, we chose Red Minotaur and the game starts off with a rendered cinema of the story where Red Minotaur and Scorpio engage in a loving moment before going into war. The cinema is followed by an animation of Red Minotaur descending from the heavens and Scorpio alsy twirling down and engaging in some banter. They're up against Frost up north at Riverglen who freezes his enemies within shards of ice.

* Sengoku Basara plays similarly to Shin Sangoku Musou where a general enters the battlefield and destroys hundreds upon hundreds of enemy soldiers in slashing attacks. The energy level in Sengoku Basara is more brisk however. Jump up on a horse and charge through a mass of soldiers while hacking away and feel the rush. The action is a tad repetitive however. For example, Red Minotaur swings an axe and he may basically just swing away and entire swaths of enemies will buckle under his sway. There are troops in the first level which put up shields but they're no match for a swinging axe. Formidable enemies in the first level include plank swinging bruisers and cavalry who attack on horses. However, they're not very bright. Once they've finished charging, they'll stand still behind you where they're easy fodder for an axe bash.
