A shooter sleeper from 1996 which sees light once again under the Major Wave 1500 re-release label. A horizontal shooter at heart, four mech vehicles may be selected at the outset of the game or one may create a custom attack craft by combining 16 different parts into any one of 63 possible ships. A hefty array of power-ups may be picked up during the course of a level but if you're content with your current artillery, you may shoot at a power-up capsule until it splinters and explodes - causing damage to enemy craft. Vehicles are invariably morphable with the ability to travel on land with legs or treads which automatically retract when one takes to the air. Firepower consists of a standard vulcan shot but tight spots may require the use of a bomb to knock out a screen full of foes. Mechs are also equipped with a short range attack where enemy ships which roam too close are slashed instead of shot. Player ships are capable of handling a number of shots before breaking up. When broken, your pilot emerges from the downed craft and flies off on a jet-powered-one-man-army uniform to continue the fight. The amount of damage that this incarnation is capable of taking is much less than the full-fledged ship but that's to be expected... All in all, Wolf Fang is a fun, old school shooter from way back when.
