Update: August 7, 2003 «©NCSX» Almost a decade old, Konami re-releases Policenauts on the Playstation for the second time in a lower-priced re-issue. Hideo Kojima's masterpiece originally saw release on July 29, 1994 on the NEC PC9821 and was eventually ported over to the Playstation and Saturn in 1996. Konami re-released Policenauts for the Playstation in 1997 under the Best Collection at Y2800 and six years later, here we are with another re-release of Policenauts. If goaded into describing the game in 10 words or less, we might be tempted to call it "Futuristic Lethal Weapon, Hideo Kojima style." Let's face it, main character Jonathan Ingram is the video game version of Mel Gibson's Martin Riggs and Ed Brown is the spitting image of Roger "I'm too old for this $#!^" Murtaugh. Character similarities aside, Policenauts follows the story of Jonathan as he returns from cryogenic sleep in outer space and works to uncover a growing mystery after witnessing the murder of his ex-wife who came to him for help in locating her missing husband. The PSOne Books re-release of Policenauts contains the original 2-disk game package in new packaging at a lower price. Note: PS One Books refers to a budget re-release brand for the Japanese Playstation console similar to Sony's "The Best" series for the PS1 and PS2. PS One Books releases include the original Playstation game and a manual that are packaged in a plastic slipcase. To clear up any confusion, PS One Books is not a book. It is a game. Thank you.
