The masked riders of kitschy television fame return in a 3-D fighting game where three heroic Kamen Riders take on all manner of beasts from the classic tv series. A total of 12 monsters or 3 Riders may be chosen as your fighter in the Versus battle mode although two fighters are hidden at the outset. Bandai introduces a power gauge meter in the game which builds up as you attack an opponent. When filled and in your favor, a weapon or special attack is activated for a short time which will allow your Rider to fire off a couple of shots or mount a massive attack against the foe. Special attacks specific to each Rider may also be pulled off during the battle which are shown in grand cinematic effect with roving camera angles. Detailed backdrops and character graphics provide a good amount of eye candy to go along with the enjoyable gameplay. Perhaps most impressive is the large size of the fighters - when viewed at normal scale, they fill up the height of the screen and nearly 3/4 of the width as they pummel each other in close proximity. Special effects when the warriors "materialize" their weapons are also very well done. A gallery mode on the disk gives fans a chance to check out the voice action, characters and monsters in the game.
