«©NCSX» The demure Yuuki looks like a normal maid with a prim dress and professional housecleaning demeanor. However, when she's not dusting the cabinetry or polishing the appliances, Yuuki raises up the gun and defends her master from diminutive maid robots.

As the proper story begins, Yuuki greets her young master in front of his grandfather's villa on a bright and sunny day. Despite the cheerful hello, not all is well as robots who look like super-deformed interpretations of Yuuki have invaded the estate and are on the attack. To add to the drama, a sexy blonde maid has also arrived to kidnap the young master. That won't do. Armed with powerful firearms, Yuuki plays the part of bodyguard who shoots, snipes, and swings a sword to dispatch her foes.

The bulk of the game is made up of levels where Yuuki roams around a level and blasts away at her enemies with conventional weapons. There are also special levels where she plays the part of a sniper or a speed racer chasing enemies on the run. As stages are cleared and points awarded, weapons may be upgraded to higher levels of performance. Mini-games and new clothes may be unlocked as well.

NCS Game Notes
» The title screen is a cropped copy of the game cover where master hugs maid but their torsos have been cut off.

» Rideon, Inc developed the game for D3 Publisher.

» Press Start and players may select NEW GAME or LOAD GAME from a simple menu. On the right side of the screen are four gold-colored bullets with tips that look like missile cones.

» Start a new game and blonde maid is standing next to a guy. She wears a maid's doily on her head and is giving orders while lifting her right arm. She's speaking to a shadowy guy who's portrait appears as a black silhouette. She turns to leave and the camera passes some canisters before panning down to Yuuki who is lying on a metal bed and breathing up and down as she's resting. She's dressed in full maid regalia. She gets up and stretches while sighing, rubs her right eye, and receives orders for her upcoming mission.

» Before the first stage starts, Yuuki is shown holding a gat and pumping her legs up and down in the Briefing Screen. A selection of weapons is listed on the left side of the screen while the game options on the right side reads as follows from top to bottom:

Stage Start - Begin maid operations
Equip - Choose which weapons to bring to war
Customize - Increase the firepower, magazine size, and reload speed for Yuuki's weapons
Collection - View 13 weapons in a gallery; 3 are viewable at the outset and the others must be unlocked
Option - Set sound volumes, toggle Dual Shock vibration
Save / Load - Store and retrieve data

» As the game begins, master is walking down the street to gramp's villa and Yuuki trails him. He turns into a street and two miniature doll versions of Yuuki appear on the street and begin to scuttle towards her in a threatening manner. Time for battle.

CONTROLS
R1-TRIGGER - Lock on to closest enemy.
R2-TRIGGER - Reload
L2-TRIGGER - Power shot - check out the mighty recoil
X-BUTTON - Jump
SQUARE - Shoot
O-BUTTON - Sword slash. Press thrice to make Yuuki slash two times, twirl, and perform a dainty backwards kick move.

● When locked onto a target, moving in a direction and pressing the X-Button executes a roll move.

● Pressing the O-Button quickly will make the maid attack multiple times with her sword so that she pokes forward with a little light show as she thrusts at anything in front of her. There's also a move where she jumps up and then kicks at enemies multiple times while in mid-air.

» After defeating the first two little robots, run down the corridor and face even more dolls that approach slowly. A map of the local area is located on the upper right corner of the screen and keeps track of the maid and her enemies. After following the corridor for a while and dispatching maid bots, flying robots are met. To destroy them, jump and slash them from the air and they'll crash downwards with a single stroke. It's also possible to target them and blast them with a bullet. The little dolls attack by hurling themselves onto the ground in a sort of dash attack move. They're not very clever however. After plowing through a few gangs of dolls, the maid runs up an incline to an elevated area where she tackles some more dolls and a leather-clad lady with a gun. After defeating them, a big and useless enemy helicopter appears which is destroyed by a few targeted blasts.

» The camera is fixed-position and the gamer is subject to its nuances. No user control is afforded although we would have preferred a little camera manipulation with the R-analog. Alas, it wasn't in D3's programming budget.

» Only the L-analog may be used for movement. The d-pad does nothing.

» After each level, the RESULTS show up which tally your combos, damage, bullets, and maid style.

» In Stage 2, the maid takes to the wilderness where trees and grass provide the background. A new type of enemy battle doll is added in this stage which wears and red/white dress and has red/white decorations attached to her green hair. A battle on the water takes place in this stage as well. To end the level, the maid performs a jumping slash attack (animated sequence) on a newtype robot dubbed model A3-N.

» After completing the second stage, Maid introduces herself to young master in front of the estate. He's missed all of the carnage behind the scenes as he dawdled to grandpa's place.

» Stage 3 opens up with maid inside the villa near a grand piano. Breaking from the run 'n gun mechanics of the first two levels, stage 3 is a fast-paced sniping mission. Run to the two porches when the blinking arrows indicate enemy agents are on the way and press and hold the "O" button to bring up the targeting scope. As enemy cars motor down the freeway, target and shoot them by pressing the SQUARE button. We noticed a bug in this level where Yuuki can walk through the railing of the center window and traipse around on the treetops.

» Stage 4: Yuuki goes through the house where groups of robots have infiltrated. Run through and exterminate all of the unwelcome visitors. One of the mini robot maids drives a yellow mech attacker. The windows in the house may be broken by slashing or shooting them. After defeating a bunch of enemies, a cut scene plays where master is met by the blonde maid from the intro. She speaks into a communicator on her wrist to HQ. She grabs master but he resists and a comical tug of war is shown where his arms act as the rope. She then knocks him down and hovers over him in a compromising position. Yuuki enters the room to the rescue and the blonde maid gets up to prepare for battle. This is the first relatively challenging battle because the blonde's gun fires quickly and reloads fast. Her HP is also large and she'll chop up maid with gunfire that rattles off in quick succession.

» Only 1 save data file is allowed per memory card. The old one is erased if a new save is executed.

Nemmo (9): "Stylish Maid Action"?
The Simple series games are probably one of my favorite lines of games ever. They all consist of budget titles, alot of which Ive already reviewed. Unfortunately that cannot be said about all of their games. The Maid Clothes and Machine Guns had alot of potential, but unfortunately falls short on many levels. I can forgive it for being a Budget Title, but this game seems like it was made by one person in his basement. This game is not all bad though! I will admit I do plan to continue playing it, jut Im a little dissapointed in it. First of, the mechanics are awesome. You lock on with R1 and reload with R2. You shoot by pressing square, and you can strafe and jump strafe with X, along with some pretty sweet moves like diving under legs and flipping over people while shooting. I think there are weapons to unlock, along with costumes (I havent got one yet). The game gets kinda dull from then on out though. First off, you can lock on with R1, but the enemies die so fast that your constantly miss firing because you lock on and then get locked off when the enemy dies. Not only that, but the enemies are virtually harmless. I havent had one try to attack me! The bosses are sub par, I may get hit once or twice. OK, thats fine for a budget title I suppose. The music, on the other hand, needs to change dramatically! If youve ever played RPG Maker, and listened to its annoying 8 Bit music over and over again while customizing your game, youll feel slightly nostalgic here. These "songs" sound like someone made them in Windows. They are the MOST boring, dull songs Ive ever heard! They are actually so bad they make me bored with the game, and ultimately subtract from the fun it couldve been. Graphics are sub par, not too bad, but not good at all. Cinemas are...bad. The ones with character interaction are just kinda painful to watch because the animation is so bad. In game the animation is fine (except for the frame rate drop occasionally, which I still dont fully understand why it happens to begin with), but these cinemas (which are also followed by boring music) are going to make you yawn. In the end, the game has its ups, even though they are few. I wouldn't recommend this game, if you want "Stylish Maid Action" go play Ichigekki Sacchou. Good Fun control scheme and bad ass action in game. Bad Basically everything else... especially the music. Ditto I would rather cut off my toes than listen to that soundtrack.
