Originally distributed in Korea by publisher Softmax and later localized for the Japanese market, Rhapsody of Zephyr tells a familiar tale of an overbearing Empire dubbed Dominion versus a rebel force called the Zephyr Falcons. Players take control of a knight named Cyrano Bernstein who was unjustly imprisoned by the Empire. During his stint behind bars, Cyrano befriends a god named Deimos who reveals the location of a powerful weapon called the Ashura sword. When Cyrano is freed from prison by the Zephyr Knights, he vows to help their cause by finding the Ashura sword and using his newfound power to topple the evil Empire. A tactical strategy game at heart, Rhapsody of Zephyr pits player controlled characters against enemies on a grid laced battlefield. Choose rudimentary directions such as move, attack, and magic in order to wage war and defeat foes. An interesting system developed by Softmax imparts stats to individual weapons that are used in the game. Abuse of a weapon invariably blunts its effectiveness and blows from an enemy may destroy it entirely. This wrinkle adds a new dimension of strategy and "resource allocation" to the game. The first limited edition of Rhapsody of Zephyr includes a bonus Premium Soundtrack CD which contains 42 tracks and BGM samples from the game. View the back cover.
