Bounty hunter Spike Spiegel and gang make their splash on the PS2 in a 3D action-adventure which features an original storyline. The game starts off on board the Bebop where Spike, Faye, Jet, Edward, and Ein are lounging about. Nothing much is going on except Faye has a drink in hand and Jet is lamenting about their state of affairs. Soon, a mission appears on the Big Shot program where an ornery cowpoke and a blonde cowgal named Punch and Judy announce the latest bounty. The crew then heads planet side to get some work done and earn some ducats. Over 50 missions are available where fugitives are caught, criminals captured, and terrorists stopped cold.

The introduction music and animated sequences follow the production flavor of the animation original with energetic blues music and lazy title sequences moving about. The presentation of the game itself uses cel-shaded styling to depict the heroes and game world for a unique representation of the Cowboy Bebop franchise.

Once Spike is upon a target or bounty, attacks and counterattacks are the order of the day. Up to two players may join in for cooperative action where one controls Spike with his Jeet Kune Do fighting skills and the other wrangles Faye Valentine or Jet Black. Environments are fully interactive and fuel drums may be exploded to damage ruffians in the local vicinity and other objects are available to turn the tide against oncoming attackers. During the exploration portions of the game, Spike walks around town checking things out and gathering clues. Spike may choose to fight or shoot during an encounter. When shooting or fighting, bullet time sequences may be triggered that are borrowed from the Matrix. In these stylized affairs, Spike is suspended horizontally or vertically in mid-air while targeting, kicking, or shooting thugs in the distance.

Bandai hired the voice actors from the Cowboy Bebop animation to give life to the cel-shaded representations of Spike, Faye, Jet, and others on screen.

Also known as Cowboy Bebop: Serenade of Reminiscence.
