Description
From the publisher
True Crime: New York City is the sequel to True Crime: Streets of LA. As in the original, the sequel includes elements from driving, shooting, and fighting games. Welcome to New York City

Features:
* Street Cop Life: Bust criminals, take down foreign and local gangs, search and seize, extort, interrogate, and dispense justice your way - by the book or indulge in the temptations of the job.

* Rule New York City: Free-roaming authentic neighborhoods, GPS-accurate streets and subways, landmark buildings, and countless interiors.

* Dynamic Environments: Unprecedented environmental gameplay - use ovens, stoves, machines, coolers, pots, pans, chairs or anything else you can grab to pound enemies. Virtually every aspect of each city block - including people, streets, and buildings - reacts and changes based on your "law enforcement" decisions and ability to combat crime.

* High-Speed Shootouts: Race through the streets of New York in shootouts! Pull off stunts with motorcyles, sports cars, trucks, buses, and more.

* Brutal Combat Styles: Switch fighting styles on the fly, from street fighting to a variety of marial arts modes, opening up an array of moves and strategies to take down enemies.

* Heavy Weapons: Use high-powered police issue weaponry, bats, swords, and other melee weapons, or obtain black market arms like flamethrowers, grenade launchers, and more.

NCS Game Notes:
* The loading screen shows a police badge illuminated with red and blue light.

* In the intro, we learn that New York City is apparently 25 square miles of crime so cold they wither the soul and freeze the blood. Great representation...

* Once the game starts, a bloodied gun-toting hoodlum named Marcus enters a building and confronts fellows who are watching television. After an accusation, Marcus engages in a firefight with enemy gangstas who are all blasting away inside a dilapidated apartment with bottles and junk strewn around. Three televisions are in the living room but the big widescreen has been shot and is emitting just sparks. Your first objective is to find a kevlar vest but it's not really necessary. Just run out and blast away at anyone who is shooting at you. There are about 8 gunmen who need to be killed before you can advance to the next area. There's a few people cowering in the apartment including a guy who's sitting on the porcelain throne but they don't need to be killed.

* Press the L1 button to target and enemy and L2 to fire. The SQUARE or "X" button is used to perform a smack while the TRIANGLE button makes Marcus jump.

* Once Marcus climbs out the window and down the ladder, there's a pair of little rats on the street who immediately run up to Marcus and appear to do a rocking dance to the hip hop music that's playing in the background. Watch as the rats raise up on their hind legs and stutter step around like two hustlers.

* After Marcus wastes the entire gang, he meets a sort of father figure in the basement of a building. Five years later, Marcus has joined the police department and has apparently cleaned up his act. As a product of the streets, Marcus is a perfect weapon who understands true crime.

* Before Marcus can become a full-fledged detective, he has to perform a couple of moves in a test. The announcer in the stage keeps calling him a "green horn." Moves learned during the test include wall hugging, precision shooting, targeting, throwing grenades, driving a police car, and stealth walking.

* For a laugh, drive the wrong way down a street and listen to your commanding officer curse and ask rhetorical questions while pedestrians scatter and duck. Crash into a pole and you'll knock it down but veer into a tree and your hood will pop.
