But, he is a boy. Or at least he sounds and appears to be of the male gender. * Modes in the game: Story Mode / Time Attack / 2P Versus / 1P / Develop Mode / Bonus Mode. In the Story mode, four characters are selectable at the outset (Zatch, Tia, Kanchome, and Brago) with two more that may be unlocked. * Zatch's humman partner is Kiyo Takamine in his quest to become the "Kind King" against all other Mamodo. Battles take place in Mochinoki Middle School, Michonoki Park, Town River Bed, Department Store, and the Quarry. His first battle is against Tia at the park. Tia trash talks before the fight and her human partner is Megumi. * The 3D fighting in Zatchbell feels a little off. If Zatch continuously attacks an enemy who has fallen onto the ground, he will win every match because it's fairly difficult for the opponent to recover or do a reversal. One exception is Bari who has a long reach and can recover from a barrage. * During the fights, you're basically controlling Zatch if his story is selected but Kiyo shadows him throughout the battle, providing backup support. However, Kiyo cannot be controlled directly. The "SQUARE" button fires off a magic attack, "X" throws out blows, "O" guards, and "TRIANGLE" is for evasive maneuvers. The left analog thumbstick controls movement and may be double-tapped to move quickly in the direction tapped. * Dialogue in the game is fully voiced from the in-game conversations to the game mode announcements. Enjoy the Italian accent for the Parco Folgore character and Ponygon's Meru-Meru bleat. * When two super opposing powers are activated by both sides at the same time, a sequence occurs where the "SQUARE" button is pressed repeatedly in order to decide which power goes through to do the damage. Zatch's special attack is a golden dragon that does massive damage or roughly 90% of an oponent's HP.
